We are thrilled to have found Jenny as teacher for our two daughters. She supports their different learning styles and always considers their own skills, interests and feelings. Jenny does not just teach our children to read, write, and play music, which she does brilliantly, but has guided them to become true musicians. She values creativity alongside technical skill and through her, our girls have learnt to express themselves through music. Jenny is an inspirational teacher with technical brilliance combined. We cannot recommend her highly enough.
As a family we would absolutely and unreservedly recommend Jenny as a piano teacher. Our contact with Jenny began five years ago, when she began teaching our middle son (intermediate standard) and in this time he has progressed enormously. Not only has his playing improved but she has fostered his musicality by encouraging him to develop his technical, improvisation and composition skills. In December last year he achieved Grade 8 piano with ‘distinction’. He tells me every week he has had ‘...the best lesson ever’ and that ‘we are so lucky to have found a teacher as superb as Jenny’ - high praise from a 16-year-old! Her total dedication to her students meant during lockdown she adapted lessons in order that tuition continued unimpeded with online lessons; already she is communicating with parents her willingness to continue these once lockdown restrictions end (if there is still a demand for it). Recently we enjoyed our first online piano concert - not quite the same as those held in person but a close second! I am particularly thrilled that my youngest son (beginner) is now also having lessons with Jenny and after two years is equally happy; his confidence has grown enormously, and he tells me how much he enjoys being taught by her. His school have even requested his services at parents’ evenings as ambient music is needed. This emphasises her skill at bringing out the best in students of all ages and abilities. It is wonderful to hear the conversations they share about dynamics and how pieces might be played. Neighbours tell us what a joy it is to hear our sons playing during the evenings and at weekends, we absolutely have Jenny to thank for their enthusiasm to practice!
Finding Jenny to teach our daughter piano has been such good luck. She is always so patient yet exacting with her expectations, just what Carlotta needs. We could not recommend her highly enough.
Jenny has been a huge part of our family life providing fun, imaginative, well planned, and highly enjoyable music lessons for all three of our children over a 16-year period. Jenny’s wide and extensive experience and knowledge in classical and jazz piano have given our children the very best tutoring possible. It is always fun, always interesting, and always from a place of professionalism. Oliver and Charlotte reached Grade 8 and continue to play for pleasure every day. The house is filled with music. Wills (15yrs) the youngest, continues his studies with Jenny taking a different route learning jazz improvisation methods which has proven very enjoyable to him and extended his learning from a classical foundation. He wanted to continue his weekly lessons throughout the covid lockdown. Jenny adapted her teaching style to adapt to the new conditions. She persisted with tricky technical hitches and nevertheless triumphed! Jenny has high standards for herself and her pupils and is a top person. She always tries her very best to deliver imaginative lessons every single time and works hard to continually develop her own skills and teaching style to give the very best lessons. I continue to recommend Jenny to all my friends and even strangers have contacted me for Jenny’s mobile number!
Ten years ago we have been lucky enough to discover Jenny as a music teacher for my then five-year-old daughter. She has been the perfect music teacher in every sense, combining theoretical knowledge with technical skill and interpretive imagination. She supports her pupils in every aspect whilst continuing to guide them to achieve musicality, curiosity and a love for music. She also supports my daughter in playing and exploring the pieces she likes, never discouraging her. My admiration and heartfelt gratitude goes to Jenny.
Teachers of Jenny’s calibre and dedication are hard to come by. She uses her deep musical knowledge and her experience of playing as a pianist at a high level to nurture the talents of all her students. She is an excellent teacher of children and adults, making lessons fun, but always focussed. Both my children achieved ABRSM Grade 8 under her expert guidance and she has encouraged my progress as an adult beginner. Teaching is more than just a job for Jenny and she always goes the extra mile, including creating performing opportunities for everyone in her regular concerts and taking pleasure in her students’ achievements.
I started playing the piano over 50 years ago, and had lessons at school. Once I had bought my own piano, I had lessons again for about 6 years in the 1990s. After a 20 year gap, in February 2020, I started lessons with Jenny. Through my lessons and by performing at Jenny's concert I am gaining confidence in my ability and will be taking my Grade 8 Performance Exam later this year. Something that I felt I'd never do. With the right teacher, it's never too late! We spend time discussing the features of a piece and Jenny is helping me to "fill in the gaps" to improve my playing. I'm really enjoying trying new styles and composers. Jenny treats each of her pupils as individuals. She considers their musical preferences, interests and goals. She enables each person to fulfill their potential and achieves very high standards. Jenny is a 5* teacher.
Jenny has an infectious enthusiasm for the love of music. She's a unique lady. She has a gentle firmness that allows her to perfectly balance encouragement and support yet demand that each student pushes to get the best out of themselves. At 10 years old, our son had never read music or picked up an instrument. In 2 years Jenny had him through Grade 4 with Distinction. A brilliant teacher, and quite exceptional with kids. We observed in awe as Jenny seamlessly transitioned to online lessons during lockdown whilst still managing to keep her happy and fun demeanour throughout. Jenny's the best we could have hoped for, and more. Jenny is the piano teacher that goes above and beyond.
My 18 year old son, Joe, has been having lessons with Jenny since he was 7. We couldn’t be prouder of the pianist he has become and what he has achieved under Jenny’s tutelage, including bronze, silver or gold in 4 competitions at the Cheltenham festival for the performing arts . Having watched Jenny in practice during the last 11 years, I never fail to be impressed and touched by her enthusiasm and protectiveness toward her students. She has the knack of being able to help each student select pieces to suit their personality and encourage them to develop their own style. Watching the students grow and develop their skills under her guidance at regular piano recitals over the years is an absolute joy and a privilege .
Jenny is an outstanding teacher and has been instrumental in our daughter’s ongoing enjoyment of piano. Jenny takes time to understand the individual needs of her students and offers the right balance of encouragement, understanding and technical knowledge to ensure they prosper. We cannot recommend her highly enough.
We couldn’t ask for a better piano teacher for our 11 year old son than Jenny. Our son has been under Jenny’s tutorage for the past three years, after having two previous teachers. Jenny took him ‘back to basics’ and filled in the gaps that had become apparent and he has since come on in leaps and bounds. He is now working towards his grade 2. Highly recommend.
