About Me

LGSM FISM ISM and EPTA registered Piano Teacher

I began in London where I combined private teaching with a post teaching music at the  www.citylit.ac.uk where I taught keyboard classes and the Diploma musicianship course for 10 years. This course prepared advanced level musicians for the External ATCL qualification at Trinity College London and covered harmony, history of music and ear training. I also ran week-long intensive workshops on improvisation and aural. During my time in London, I also performed regularly both as an accompanist and a soloist at many London venues and music societies.

I moved to Stroud in 1999 and have been teaching here ever since. My students include people of all ages and are either beginners, late starters, returning adults or diploma level players. Many of my students started with me as small children and are still learning as teenagers. I love what I do and pride myself on tailoring each lesson to the interests and ability of the student.

Many of my students take ABRSM and Trinity Piano exams with great success but others do not want to take exams at all. I believe every one of us has natural musical ability and my aim is to help each of my students to unlock their own unique musical voice. From the earliest lessons, I try to help cultivate a love of music, an ability to listen and a curiosity about all types of music as well as develop performance skills.
